With over four decades of experience, Gwen Volk has held pivotal leadership roles and earned national recognition for her contributions to affordable housing:

  • Leadership Experience: Served as Vice President, President, and CEO of a Midwest housing development and management company (1983–1996).

  • Compliance Expertise: Chief Compliance Officer for a Dallas-based firm (2001–2014).

  • Nationwide Consultant: Since 1996, Gwen has provided training and consulting services to affordable housing professionals across the U.S.

  • National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA):

    • Served on the Board of Directors from 1996–1997 and 2007–2012.

    • Chaired multiple committees, including the Certification Review Board, Education and Training, and Fair Housing committees.

    • Played a key role in the development of and ongoing updates to NAHMA’s Fair Housing Compliance (FHC) Course and in adapting both the FHC and Certified Professional of Occupancy (CPO) courses for virtual presentation during COVID-19—a format that continues to be offered today.

    • Certified NAHMA trainer, actively involved in the continuous updates and revisions of the FHC and CPO courses.

    • Major Scholarship Supporter: Gwen has demonstrated her unwavering commitment to fostering educational opportunities for students in affordable housing communities, contributing more than $40,000 to NAHMA Scholarships since 2015.

  • AHMA East Texas Scholarship Foundation:

    • Current board director and passionate advocate for affordable housing scholarships.

    • Significant contributor to the foundation, helping provide financial support to students pursuing their educational goals.
